The Foundation’s efforts combine in a purpose to give a new start in life to those whose lives have been affected by domestic violence, substance abuse, and poverty. Our hopes and our dreams for REstart are captured in our mission statement:
May the work we do here break the chains of violence, drugs, and despair, and bring families home again through education, training, love, and hope.
REstart Leadership is committed to bringing integrity, compassion and professionalism to challenged individuals as we provide the personal growth and marketable skills necessary to obtain jobs, career and homes. We are dedicated to this purpose through knowledge, education and networking with the support of the Institute of Real Estate Management.
Where We Are Today
Now in its 17th year, REstart has become all that was hoped for. The community response has been overwhelming. The program and its graduates have been the subject of newspaper articles and television broadcasts. REstart has received numerous awards for its innovative and community service, including the first-ever, “Special Recognition for Outstanding Community Service” award from the IREM Foundation in Washington, D.C. in May 2001. Additionally, the County of San Diego proclaimed Thursday, September 9, 1999, the “Institute of Real Estate Management/REstart Day.
